A seminar entitled “Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program for 2023” was conducted by the representative of the Amideast Organisation at the University of Zakho in the presence of a number of the university teaching staff on October 27, 2022.
Noteworthy, the program details, eligibility criteria, selection, and application process were explained during the seminar. The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is a ten-week, non-degree professional and faculty development program that sends fifteen junior Iraqi scholars to the United States for faculty development, mentoring, and cultural exchange activities.
At the end of the seminar, a certificate of appreciation was presented to the representative of the Amideast Organisation for their efforts and continuous support.
Eligible Applicants must:
Be Iraqi citizens and residents of Iraq now and throughout the application process.
Possess high proficiency in written and oral English (recommended minimum TOEFL score of 500).
Be full-time Iraqi university faculty members who possess, at a minimum, a master's degree and at least three years of university-level teaching experience or a Ph.D. and no more than eight years of teaching experience.
Be committed to classroom teaching and desire to strengthen teaching and leadership skills.
Not have applied or been planning to apply for a U.S. green card or asylum status.
Not be dual citizens of the U.S. and Iraq.
Be able to travel to and remain in the U.S. during the dedicated grant period of June through September 2023.
